Hunter Hillel Stages Exhibit in Hunter West LobbyHunter Hillel featured an exhibit titled “Faces of Israel” in the West lobby from Feb. 27 to March 2, portraying unique and diverse posters of students in Hillel organizations on campuses around the world. The photographs were printed onto poster boards and displayed on wooden easels. Throughout the week, some posters featured information about Israel instead of Hillel students. The exhibit in the West lobby was an effort by Hunter Hillel to promote awareness of Israel on campus in light of the various conflicting political ideologies circulating among students.
The exhibit remained in the lobby for what Sam Schachter, Engagement and Programming Assistant for Hunter Hillel, called “Israel peace week.”
Students for Justice in Palestine tabled on the third floor of the West building to advocate their opinions and educate students, for what they referred to as “ Israeli Apartheid Week.”
Schachter said that Israel is represented on campus in different ways, and the exhibit aimed to promote and advocate information that people may not know. “If people are talking about Israel, we [Hunter Hillel] have a responsibility to be in the conversation,” Schachter said.
